I am removing the previous posts, as it does no one any good to continue to dregde up crap on the net. I have spoken with Mark a few times in the last few months and he is doing his best to rectify many of the remaining problems that existed, not because he was compelled by me, but because he was sincerely trying hard to deal with all of the issues at hand. I hope the Squillante Family recognizes that many of us were angry and upset by the status quo, we couldn't communicate with many of you, which gave way to some conjecture and frustration.
Kunicon is over with, life goes on ^_^.
Many of us, myself included are still working hard in the anime community here in South Florida and abroad to bring everyone more of that great video version of crack we love. If any of you still have pending issues that have yet to be resolved, please pop me an email - although I think Mark has taken care of most if not all of them.
I hope no one holds any grudges, against them, as I judged to quickly. I had my own mistakes for this event. it was a team effort, we all succeed, or we all fail. I dont think we failed, because we learn from our mistakes, So I take it as a growth experience.

It was a hard four conventions to put together and run, but I wouldn't change the experience I had in that short time for the world. The adrenalin from Miami, hearing David Carradine tell that lame joke, the awesome party in Atlanta with Greg Ayres djing til 5am! XD All of that was an experience I'll never forget and I'm glad we were able to work together to make something like that happen. :D
Since Kunicon's not happening we'll take the opportunity to use that weekend for our picnic. This time you have no excuse to miss it! XD

I'm sure Orange Anime is going to have a Winter Gathering in January since KuniCon won't be happening so you should come hang out and relax.

About Yasumicon
Well.. gee... For a free damn convention, AGA does the best it can. Of course we can't match up with the 3-day cons up north, but then again we're not trying to. It's hard enough for a lot of people to drive way up north for a con, and that's all Yasumicon really is... A doorway to the real fandom of the anime world. Someday, hopefully, Yasumicon WILL cut it, but for now it'll just be another random anime event inviting younger and older fans alike to join us for a bit of of Japanese animation fun.Manny, you know I'm behind ya' 100% of the way. I heard rumors about things here and there, but I'm extremely happy to finally hear the truth. If you need any type of help, don't hesitate to call me.
Come back to the meetings if you can! We miss you!!

It's not our mistakes that define us as much as how we handle them.
Good form in coming clean on this.

Though yes, it is indeed good to hear official word from it all, and owning a game room wouldn't be the same without having you to perster after each and every tournament.
Hope to see you doing better things.

Sorry to hear such news...
Wow, Glad to know you're ok. For a while there, I feared that something had happened, especially since I got such terrible vibes when I brought up Kunicon with some of the people involved. As far as Kunicon is concerned, I think it's ok. I think it's ok to step away from something when it doesn't seem right, or feel right. I personally believe payment is due when hard work is given, especially in this scenario. I remember Miami, and I remember a lot of different things that I've seen and experienced in that and in other cons, and how it just seemed odd that things either went missing or there were communication flaws, since the backing of Kunicon(which I think caused a lot of people to give Kunicon a negative look from the start)was that it was a con for profit. A traveling one at that.
As for the defense of Kunicon during this rather large time, I have to say that your heart was in the right place, always. I just hope next time, with these new eyes of yours, you'll stay sharper and question more.
Lastly, you're more than welcome in our crew(well at least with me anyway) and in our neck of the woods.
Be safe my friend,
Edwin

I had a great time working in Atlanta, and it was mostly because of you and your lovely wife. You two are such wonderful people. If you're ever in GA, give me a ring.
As for Kunicon...I know who to call and pester now! LOL ^_^
Much Love,

Firstly, good for you for saying something and standing up! I think thats fantastic. The entire thing has been very disheartening I'm sure, and I think you are doing the correct thing.
The fact that they never filled out the not-for-profit paperwork is absolutely rediculous. I know many people within both the fan, artist, and dealer community that will not attend a convention that isn't not-for-profit. You have most definately done the right thing.
Good luck in all you do my friend.
November 2 2005, 17:48:47 UTC 6 years ago
You did the right thing though, dear. *huggle*
If you wanna help organize something in St. Louis (non for profit this time) though, feel free to IM me.

As for the quests and vendors - I have not been able to reach all of them, but I am working on that today and tomorrow. Hopefully they wont all be waiting to long. All of the guests we had were so amazing! They were our life blood, and so supportive of everything we did.
if anyone has questions for me or wants to talk I will be online in AIM "moadibafs" or pop me an e-mail - sprint towers in miami are horrid from all the storms so my cell service is not that great for those of you that have my phone # (no house phone, I travel to much, so only have a cell ^_^)
Hey the good news is! Terry is already working on YasumiCon and there is a surprise coming lol...

Stay out of my City....
With all due respect Manny I think Brian Lan would be better off without you getting involved, he needs someone who actually know's what they are doing, it would help him to have someone more honest too. But thats just my opinion, I don't know what conversations you and Brian have been having,I don't know why all of you are patting Manny on the back, all he did in his post is pass the blame, as far as I can remember you were the one who was in charge..whenever anyone had a serious question about Kunicon they were directed to you, it was YOU that showed up on numerous message boards to defend "YOUR" Con, which simply means YOU new exactly what was going on behind the scenes. I had bad feelings about Krap-Con from the beginning. Please stay out of St. Louis most anime fan's I know don't want you trying to set up a con here.

A Response From Prentice
I don't know if anybody got payed for working yet. I know my boyfriend I haven't. I'm not sure if Manny has the evidence to sue because I don't have it. It's too bad too. I worked really hard in Atlanta, and Manny worked harder than all the employees combined.November 2 2005, 20:26:15 UTC 6 years ago
Sorry to hear about everything chief. Good for you for washing your hands of it...
November 2 2005, 20:38:14 UTC 6 years ago
I don't really know. My fiancee worked for them at the Denver Con, and he never did get paid back for it. He and his friends have been trying to contact someone about it, but I guess that's money lost.
Good luck with everything though.

But until I know this is the best Solution I won't be bringing it up again. Strange thing, I got contacted not 30 minutes ago by a credit agency that had my contact info for a bill never paid from Mark's Dept, stating me as the debtor O_O. >_< So all these things have to come to account. I dont like this course, I would rather wash my hands of it, but if it is possible then we'll go after them - together.

Sorry to hear about all the problems with Kunicon. I think that you and your crew were treated badly and that you all should do something to at least get the money that is due you. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you would really concider helping to bring a con back to St. Louis. KuniconSTL was a real boone to us since there are a lot of anime fans here and the nearest con is Anime Central in Chicago at the moment.
